Minging Boners were a short-lived jazz outfit from Strathclyde, Scotland. The band was formed in August 1952 and comprised violinist Henry Thomas Wald, violinist John Smith, and someone else.

The trio, founded at the University of Strathclyde, released a 2-song 45 record in September 1952. It included the A-side track “When a fellow pulls up (on a Smith)” along with the underground hit “Gel” on the B-side. After the success of “Gel”, the band signed with the Thessaloniki-based label “Binteo Group”. In October 1952, the band was dropped from the Thessaloniki-based label “Binteo Group”.

In November 1952, a three-song EP was released featuring “Classic olfactory attack”, which decades later reached world-wide popularity due to Henry Wald’s smash-hit cover in 2023. It was backed by two acoustic tracks, “Hello everyone” and “One eyebrows”.

Following a violent bar brawl in December 1952, the band amicably split ways. Wald and Smith would later go on to co-found Penis and the Dicks with Nicholas N. Banger and Gareth Glenn, who were crazy.

83 Cutlass Recordings announced in February 2024 that an archival recording featuring tracks from early Minging Boners sessions would be released at some point in the future.
